What is photobiomodulation?
Photobiomodulation (PBM) refers to the use of red or near-infrared light to stimulate, heal, regenerate, and protect injured, degenerated, or dying tissue. The brain is susceptible to a variety of different conditions, which can be divided into three major categories: traumatic events (stroke, traumatic brain injury, and global ischemia), degenerative diseases (dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease), and psychiatric disorders (depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder).
